Avenue City ACES take Flight on C-130
Regional Educators Conference 139th Airlift Wing, Thursday August 3, 2017
The 139th Airlift Wing, Missouri Air National Guard invited area educators to tour the base as part of the 2nd Annual Educator's & Counselor's day on Thursday August 3, 2017, from 8:00am - 2:00pm. The following staff from Avenue City School took part in this educational opportunity: Elizabeth Forney, Jennifer Schaeffer, Janis Pargas, Connie Phillips, Shelly Froehlich, Lori Schneider, and Rebecca Grimes.
Participants learned about the numerous career opportunities for students which include: education & medical benefits, technical & leadership training, travel and college credits that can be applied to a college degree programs. In addition to the 139th Airlift Wing, the base has built an incredible relationship with the local businesses and very active within the community. The 139th Airlift Wing has built a reputation for providing a well-qualified and well-trained workforce which often leads to preferred hiring with many of the large employers in the local and surrounding communities. Members of the 139th Airlift Wing are employed in numerous industries in both Missouri and Kansas. A mission of the wing is to build strong relationships with local school districts. During the visit to the 139th Airlift Wing, participants toured the base and took flight on a C-130 aircraft.
