Children who enter kindergarten 2025-2026 school must turn five years old by August 1st of 2025. Avenue City School is currently scheduling screenings for students who will enter kindergarten. These screenings are used to tell parents and teachers the student’s strengths and weaknesses before entering school. If your child will turn 5 before August 1, 2025 call the school office (816-662-2305) to schedule your child’s screening. Screenings are being scheduled NOW!
District staff is working in conjunction with the United Way to provide KinderClub for these students and parents of these students. What is KinderClub? United Way KinderClub - Success By 6 fosters and prepares young children for future success. Research has shown how critical the earliest years are in setting the stage for life, indicating that children who enter kindergarten with the foundation to learn are likely to succeed and reach their full potential. KinderClub aims to strengthen the system that nurtures the community’s youngest children by working with parents and early education teachers to help children develop the skills needed for Kindergarten. The initiative works to educate parents about their key role as their child’s first teachers, helps educators learn more about their incoming students, and will familiarize future ACES with district personnel and district facility. Avenue City will be working with United Way to offer this program for our 2022-2023 kindergarten students and families. The dates for this program are April 22, 24, 29 & May 1 from 3:30-4:15 PM.
